Both race days will be held at our awesome new venue, Dining Street, Brandon, Mississippi. The venue is right behind a row of great restaurants and gathering places, Genna Benna’s (Georgia Blue), Mud Bugs, The Cleaners Pizzeria, Good Boy Po Boys and Burgers, Blues and Bar-B-Que. Don’t forget about the hidden gem, a speak-easy called The Gallows. Big fun, big crowds are expected.

The Asphalt on a scale of 1-10 is a solid 8 to 9, the course is 185 yards long and the start drops at fast rate can reach 15-20 MPH. The finish flattens out to a slight rise for a pump to the finish. Think of this as our old Fondren Hill with almost perfect asphalt. There is a nice run out. No foot drag needed.

Emergency medical personnel will be on the hill all day, both days. We are proud to have Boy Scout Troop 229 as course marshals again this year.

EVENT DISCRIPTION

FRIDAY:

Giant Slalom under the lights! Practice will be as close to 5pm as possible with racing as close to 6pm as possible. Please be on time. Giant Slalom will be single lane jam style A Class B & C class will be chosen by the timer. Racers may go off the ramp or without the ramp. Cone penalty will be .20 per cone 15% cone DQ limit, all racers get four runs. This race will be run under large construction lighting as we saw at Luna in 2003, 2004 & 2005. Please try not to spill your margarita in the lighting generator!

SATURDAY:

We will be getting started with practice as close to 2pm as possible with racing as close to 3pm as possible so be ready. Tight slalom and Hybrid Slalom will be 1st qualifying and then head to head racing. Cone penalty will be .10 per cone 15% cone DQ limit; we will be using Ricky Byrd style start ramps and Trakmate timer with false start detection and random start cadence. If you false start it will be a DQ for that run.
Please note: There will be A, B and C classes for Pro, Am, Master, Grand Master, Woman and Juniors this year, only your time will seat you, nothing else, and all points will be awarded per where you place after head to head racing within the entire class. So, this means that if there are, for example, 8 racers in the A class and you come in 1st in the B class you will be in ninth place for the whole class and so on down the line. If we have enough Masters, Grand Masters, Juniors and Woman to make a division (declared magic number is 4) then they will be eligible to win both their class as well as the place they earn overall. Cash prizes for top three Open and top three Women (if there is a class of four).

Courses will be close to last years with a few tweaks to eliminate negative offsets. This is top notch racing with all the details covered as you know Mississippi Grass Roots Slalom can provide.

We will accept entry fees on the hill. Entry Fee includes all racing, event t-shirt, lunch on the hill and Friday after-party. Sleep in on Saturday, we’re not racing until later racing!
