Josh Byrd, originally from Mississippi and now residing in Nashville, Tennessee, is a prominent figure in the world of slalom skateboarding. Serving as the Secretary of USA Slalom Skateboarding, Josh has been deeply involved in the sport since 2000. He secured the Junior World Champion title in 2003 before retiring from the sport a few years later. Josh made a triumphant return in 2022 at the US Nationals, securing an impressive 5th place. The following year, 2023, proved to be a remarkable racing season for Josh, as he achieved notable placements, including 3rd place at the Texas Sizzler, 6th place in the Pro class at the US National Championship, and 11th place in the Pro class at the World Championship. Riding a JBH/PG board while partnersing with Robot Oblivion trucks, RipTide bushings, and Pat’s Risers, Josh’s equipment reflects his dedication to precision and performance. My parents moved a ton when I was young. They bought me a skateboard when I was 12. I started in LDP. Quickly fell in love with downhill. Travelled in my van to every race I could find. Chuck Dinkins’ roots in skateboarding trace back to 1975 in Hawaii and Southern California, as part of a military family, before he moved east and made a name for himself throughout the 1980s in the street and transition scenes. Sponsored by iconic brands including Vans, Tracker Trucks, Santa Cruz Speed Wheels, and A1 Meats, Chuck captured the 1987 Eastern Skateboard Association (ESA) Streetstyle Championship and turned pro later that year at the Savannah Slamma II with Walker Skateboards. He first introduced and participated in slalom with world champion Keith Hollien in the late ’80s, adding this discipline to his quiver as a well-rounded skateboarder. In 1991, Chuck introduced Soul Trip Skateboards—a Walker Skateboards side project born from a shared passion for the activities and lifestyle that make life worth living. For Chuck, a “soul trip” is whatever brings pure joy and a reason to get up in the morning, which centers on every aspect of skateboarding and the community built around it.

Chuck’s contributions to the sport led to his induction into the Florida Skateboard Hall of Fame in 2009. His dedicated slalom journey reignited during the 2020 pandemic when he began setting up soccer-cone courses with his local crew, the 8th Day SkateVentist, before upgrading to high-performance components and refining his racing technique.

In 2025, Chuck took 1st place in the banked slalom contest at the historic Kona Classic at Kona Skate Park in Jacksonville, FL. Encouraged by Keith Hollien to step onto the official race circuit, Chuck made an immediate impact—finishing his rookie season ranked #7 in the Masters Division worldwide. Continuing that momentum into 2026 with strong finishes, including 2nd Overall in the Masters Division at the US Nationals, Chuck is honored to represent the USA Slalom Skateboarding racing team on both classic and modern courses.

Jennifer Coppa, skating from San Pedro, California, boasts an impressive 52 years of experience on the board. At 55, Jennifer continues to push her limits and pursue new challenges in the skateboarding world. Francesca Rosario-Custodio has been skating for the past 14 years, exploring all disciplines of skateboarding. She started with freestyle and transition, then ventured into the downhill race scene, traveling to races throughout the USA, Mexico, and the Philippines, at one point reaching #5 in the world. During this time, she participated in a couple of small slalom events and enjoyed skating slalom for fun. Francesca has worked in the skate industry for several years, including stints at a skate shop and for a board manufacturer, where she helped design prototype longboards. Through her industry experience, she had the opportunity to meet some of her skateboard heroes, including Lynn Kramer, the 17th world women’s slalom champion. Lynn and Francesca became friends, traveling to Maryhill together. Lynn has served as a role model, mentor, and coach to Francesca over the years. After overcoming several injuries in downhill skating, Francesca is now returning to the slalom skating scene. When she is not skating with the La Costa Racing team or friends, she enjoys bowl riding, sailboat racing, and performing skateboarding stunt work in the film industry. I started skating on and off since the pandemic; It was a time when I finally let myself pursue what would bring me joy despite everyone around me making fun of me for it. Skating was one of those things that was shrouded in shame for whatever reason, but the elation and purpose it gave me was so undeniable. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, Judi Oyama is a pioneer in skateboarding. Rising through the ranks in the 1970s and 1980s, Oyama became a prominent female skateboarder, breaking new ground in downhill racing, vert and slalom competitions. Being one of the few women competing in a predominantly male sport, she broke barriers and inspired a new generation of female skaters, cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in the sport.
