Salem, Oregon – Salem has been chosen as the host city for the prestigious World Skate sanctioned 2023 World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding, set to take place on September 29th – October 1st. Over 80 racers from 14 countries will descend upon the soap box derby hill at Bush’s Pasture Park. Bush’s Pasture Park is open to the public, and spectators are welcome to watch the event free of charge.

Slalom Skateboarding is a discipline of skateboarding that involves navigating a course marked with a series of cones. As home to the only official soap box derby track on this side of the Mississippi, Salem’s Bush’s Pasture Park was able to secure an International Slalom Skateboarding Association (ISSA) Major World Ranking Sanction and align with World Skate and USA Slalom Skateboarding to produce an epic crown-jewel event for the world slalom racing circuit. Additionally, the event has earned an official sanction by the International Olympic Committee-recognized governing body – World Skate. This is a giant step toward the sport’s ultimate goal of getting to the Olympics.

The event will consist of a traditional race structure with one event per day. All competitors are welcome to attend and can register at usaslalomskateboarding.com. There will be separate divisions for Women and Juniors and will also run Pro, Amateur, and Master’s brackets, with participants competing for prestigious titles and substantial cash prizes.
